"SaaS" stands for "Software as a Service". It is a model in information technology in which software applications are provided over the Internet. Unlike the traditional method of purchasing, downloading and installing software on individual computers or servers, in the SaaS model the software is hosted on central servers and made available to users over the Internet.

Well-known examples of SaaS applications include Google Workspace (formerly G Suite), Microsoft 365, Salesforce, Dropbox and many others. SaaS enables businesses and individuals to access powerful software without the cost and complexity of deploying and maintaining their own infrastructure.
